Oxford Dictionary’s 2024 word of the year was “brain rot.” As in one’s decreasing ability to utilize mental capabilities or a decline in one’s mental state. And there is a good reason for this. As a survey conducted by Gallup in 2022 showed, Americans are reading fewer books every year. Another survey by The Bureau of Labor indicated that the amount of time people spend reading has been on a steady decline for the past 20 years.

Don’t fall victim to brain rot! Join Care & Share’s Book Club and enjoy all the benefits of reading including but not limited to improved memory and concentration, expanded vocabulary and knowledge, increased empathy, decreased stress, and better sleep!
