Saturday, November 8, 2025, we kicked off our 50th anniversary year celebration with an enjoyable banquet for our volunteers. The event was held at the Franconia Heritage Banquet facility. We welcomed over 150 guests for a delicious breakfast at 8AM, and almost 200 guests at noon for a lunchtime meal. The weather for the day cooperated, warm and sunny, and everyone enjoyed their time celebrating Care & Share’s half-century mark.
At each seating, the group heard remarks from Sarah Bergin, Executive Director, Eric Connor, Chair of the Board of Directors, and Carolyn Strong, Thrift Shop Coordinator, MCC East Coast. Each thanked our volunteers for their amazing support of the work and mission of the organization. Volunteers with 25+ years of service were recognized for their service.
An update on the new Care & Share location included the highlight of the banquet – a visit to the new premises in Harleysville! While the site is an active construction area, we were able to gather inside the space and learn about the plans for its layout. Guests drove over or had the option to travel in comfort in a Perkiomen tour bus. Many volunteers reported in the following week how excited they are in looking forward to the new space. The remarks ranged from the size to the windows, to the fact that everything will be in one, connected space.
Care & Share’s leadership, board, and managers are so thankful for the time you give in service to help others both locally and globally. The success of our organization is rooted firmly in the work that you do here. Your efforts are bettering the lives of countless individuals around the globe. Local organizations that are assisting our neighbors in need share that the impact of gift cards and other material goods help many people who are in need of a helping hand and a lift up.
The new Harleysville location will enhance our ability to strengthen the Care & Share community which all of us enjoy being a part of. Organized work areas, efficient register hubs and expansive retail space will make our tasks more enjoyable as we have the opportunity to perform our service in an open and efficient environment. A major asset will be the team member lunch/break room on the second floor, with attractive window views and a bright, modern layout. It will be a place to gather, relax and connect.
We are very thankful for the successes of the first 50 years of Care & Share Thrift Shoppes. We hope you are as excited as we are for the next chapter!
