New Coffee Service
We have rolled out a new coffee machine this week! As you take a break or lunch, check out the new equipment that we had installed in our breakrooms. The machines are replacing the old Bunn units that were used for many years.
Why did we make this change? In recent years, the costs of servicing, repairing, and replacement parts have been averaging over $2,000 annually. Routine repair and service calls were frequently over $300 a visit. The machines were negatively impacted by the hard water that is present in the shopping center. In addition, employee time averaged an hour a day in setting them up in the mornings and cleaning the equipment at night. At the end of the day, leftover coffee was poured down the drain. The new machines are the property of the vendor, and routine maintenance is their responsibility. Cleaning the machines daily is only a five minute task, as it is very automated.
What are my beverage choices? The machine offers eleven choices in addition to hot water. Select from Coffee (black); Coffee with Cream; Coffee Latte (extra cream); Decaffeinated Coffee; Cappuccino; Decaf Cappuccino; French Vanilla Cappuccino; Decaf French Vanilla Cappuccino; Cafe Mocha (coffee with chocolate); Decaf Mocha; and Hot Chocolate with Milk. We continue to offer a selection of teas for you to use with the Hot Water that the machine will dispense. Sugar and sugar substitutes are available in each breakroom.
How do I operate the machine? Take a coffee mug or cup and place it on the grate in the machine. Make your selection by pressing the button. The machine’s screen will say “Working..”. Leave your cup in place until the machine screen indicates “Take your Cup”. Note that removing it before the screen indicates may mean that the creamer or other component of your beverage has not yet been disbursed into the mug. Note that the machine is set to make 8 ounce servings. If the machine is not operating correctly, please alert your department manager. Do not put signs on the machine or otherwise try to disable it.
We heard you! During this first week of operations, we are learning and fine-tuning based on experiences. For example, the amount of creamer being disbursed per serving has been adjusted. We have also decided that the creamer will be switched to a sugar-free, milk-only based creamer. This change will occur during the week of August 18.
