On Friday, December 13, Care & Share hosted the visit of several live reindeer, an event that has become somewhat of a Christmas tradition. The weather was cold and clear, and we had many people come out to see the fascinating animals up close. From 4- 8PM, there was a steady stream of families and individuals that stopped by.
Univest generously sponsored the event, and the North Penn Goodwill Service brought their truck and served complimentary hot dogs and hot chocolate. The Reindeer were from Spruce Ridge Reindeer Farm, a family farm in Albrightsville PA. Each child that came to see the reindeer received a coupon for a free children’s book and adults received a coupon that could be used in any of our shoppes that evening.
Thanks to the many team members that made this event possible. A special thank you to our volunteers who provided an extra work shift so that our shoppes were well-stocked and properly staffed for a busy evening! From talking with many of you, we heard you had a fun night as our shoppes were busy.
This was a valuable opportunity for Care & Share to connect with the local community and introduce new people to our organization. We provided 401 children with a free book that evening. 364 adults used their coupons. Our sales during the event far exceeded a typical Friday evening. In fact, we stayed open until 8PM to take advantage of the reindeer’s visit and the related foot traffic.
This event would not have been successful without your help. Thank you to everyone who assisted in serving customers, stocking shelves, getting our shoppes organized, readying the parking lot set-up, greeting visitors, and handing out coupons. There were many ways your help made this happen, including the ‘word of mouth’ promotion that occurred leading up to and during the evening.
We appreciate everything you do, and wish you a blessed holiday season!
