Roll Up Your Sleeves and Help Us Move!

The countdown is on, and we need your help as Care & Share prepares to move into our new Harleysville location!

This Thursday (June 11) marks an exciting milestone in our move as we begin relocating our bookcases to the new store. While this is an important step forward, we ask for your patience and understanding, as things may not operate exactly as usual during this transition. Our team is working hard to balance serving shoppers and donors while preparing for the move, and we appreciate your flexibility and support.  Customers will be able to continue to shop in our Book store, and our selections will be priced and sold under the normal tag rotation.  Merchandise will be displayed on large tables.

Over the next two weeks, June 15 – 19 and June 22 – 26, volunteers will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth transition. During the first week, we’ll dismantle store fixtures and racks, load them onto trucks, and set them up at our new location. This work requires strong hands and plenty of muscle, so if you have friends or family members who are willing to help, please invite them to join us! You do not need to be a regular Care & Share volunteer to lend a hand.

In addition to moving fixtures, we could use people who are handy with assembly. We purchased eight trolley carts for donation collection that need to be assembled. We also have skate racks and other equipment that will need to be set up and put into place.

The second week will focus on processing donations and preparing the store to welcome shoppers.

Special volunteer shifts are available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to 4 PM throughout the move. Whether you can give a few hours or a full day, your help will make a tremendous difference.

If you are already scheduled to volunteer at Care & Share on one of these days, please plan to serve your regular shift. We are already experiencing a seasonal dip in volunteer hours due to summer vacations, and we still need coverage for our day-to-day operations while the move is underway. We recognize that not everyone can assist with the physical aspects of moving fixtures, and serving at the Souderton store is still contributes to the success of the transition. If you have some extra time and would like to commit to an additional shift, this may allow other team members to spend time moving equipment. All hands will serve a good purpose.

This move represents an exciting new chapter for Care & Share, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing volunteers. Together, we’ll build a new home that will serve our community for years to come.
