In 2023, we introduced Volunteer Town Hall meetings. Our desire was to keep communication between Volunteers and Management open.
Meetings were hosted on a quarterly basis with the intention that Volunteers would provide questions, topics, or concerns that they wanted addressed by upper management in advance of the meeting. Management also had the opportunity to reinforce some of the subjects brought up in the Volunteer Newsletters and highlight items that are included in the breakroom power points.
Last year we had a great turn out for the first two Town Hall meetings but attendance dwindled for the second half of the year. Given the low turnout, we adjusted the schedule to one meeting every 6 months for 2024. We also increased the number of Volunteer Newsletters, which regularly receive engagement from hundreds of Volunteers. Our last Town Hall meeting in May was attended by just 18 individuals, many of whom were disappointed to find out that the next Town Hall was not scheduled until December. Due to this reaction, we developed a poll for Volunteers to complete in a previous newsletter. We value your constructive input and feedback!
The response to the survey was low, and here is what we heard from the 23 participants who took the survey:
- The majority of the participants are not interested in an earlier Town Hall date.
- Having a quarterly meeting is only “somewhat” important.
- The top three responses on how volunteers are getting Care & Share information:
- This Volunteer Newsletter
- The Breakroom Bulletin Boards
- Information I hear from other volunteers
Thank you for taking the time to be an informed volunteer by reading our newsletters and giving us feedback.
