July and August are important and busy months in our Clothing Shoppe. It’s back to school time, back to college, and for many, back to a routine in September after the summer season. People often are looking for clothes for the new season, and historically the Clothing Shoppe’s sales are high during these important months.
We receive generous donations of nice clothing during the spring and summer months, and we look to have these donations processed and ready for sale in July and August.
We are looking for volunteers to join us the week of June 9 – 13, 2025. During this week, we will be processing and sorting through clothing donations at a separate facility, in addition to the normal work that occurs in our clothing workroom.
Bergey’s Electric has made a generous offer to provide extra space for us to work on clothing processing during this week. Bergey’s owns the facility at 55 East Cherry Lane, Souderton. This is the former long-time home of Youngs Hardware Equipment and Supplies. The space where we will be working is clean, well-lit, and climate controlled. There are restrooms and a lunch room- plenty of parking too. We are seeking to get through a lot of clothing donations so that we will have plenty to tag and stock during the upcoming summer months.
Would you be able to join us? We’re looking for volunteers to sign up for 4-hour shifts between 9AM and 5PM the week of June 9. This is a perfect opportunity for a family service effort; a Sunday School class project; an afternoon out with your friend group; or for individuals to come and work with others on meaningful activity. We invite both current volunteers and others to serve. We have availability for a total of over 2,500 volunteer hours!
As an added incentive, we will make an above-budget contribution to MCC in July based on how many total volunteer hours that week are served at the Bergey location. If we can achieve 2,500 hours at the Bergey location, we’ll be able to contribute an extra $5,000 to MCC in July! We will provide a contribution of a lesser amount if we hit certain hour milestones under the full 2,500 hours.
