Care & Share is excited to announce that we are planning on a soft opening of our new Harleysville location on Saturday, August 1, 2026! We will be open 9 AM – 5 PM
Several volunteers have inquired whether it would be possible to have a preview evening for them. We think that is a great idea and are happy to announce that we invite our team members to a special evening to walk the new location and shop on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5 – 7 PM
Please join us during this time frame! Staff members will be there to answer questions and to check you out if you wish to make any purchases.
Please note, volunteer and staff discounts will not be available at our preview evening or during the first several weeks of our new store operations. This reflects that all the merchandise is new and freshly placed, and is a necessary consideration of cash flow with the significant investment made in this new space. Our tag color sales will resume later in August, along with team member discounts. We appreciate your understanding.
Our initial public opening is being considered a ‘soft opening’. This is a retail term businesses frequently use as they first step out and open for business. It is a time when we will learn of any adjustments or ‘fine-tuning’ we may need to implement or consider. It will also help us to gauge public response to our operation.
Our initial soft opening hours will be Saturday, August 1, and Monday – Saturday, August 3 – 8, all from 9 AM – 5 PM. We will not be open this first Sunday, August 2. Harleysville Donations will be open these days as well.
In Souderton, the Variety Shoppe permanently closed on Friday, July 31, at 4 PM. Going forward, the Outlet and Souderton Donations tent will remain open for business Mondays through Saturdays. We will no longer accept furniture donations in Souderton; those must be brought to Harleysville or scheduled for pickup.
We anticipate and hope for a strong public response to our Harleysville store. To that end, we are so grateful to any time our volunteers can provide in retail support, processing, tagging, or donations. Our new retail hub has the same registers you are familiar with using, and our staff will provide an overview and orientation when you arrive as to the use of barcode scanning and manual price entry. Eventually, we will convert to entirely barcoded products. For our Furniture sales, we will instruct you on how to write up customer furniture orders. Please contact Suzanne Kratz (Volunteer Manager), Rich Palmer (Retail Director) or Jerry Zimmerman (Warehouse Director) if you would like to learn how you can plug in!
Thank you for your continued support of Care & Share!
