A couple friendly reminders for our volunteers arising out of recent incidents in our shoppes.
Lock up your valuables
Upon arrival, please take advantage of the lockers found in each end of our facility and the book shop. Secure your handbags, electronics, keys, wallets, etc. in a locker. We had an unfortunate situation recently where a volunteer’s coat went missing, and in it, a wallet and some electronics. When leaving please be sure the coat you are taking is your own. Many coats at first glance can look similar to other coats!
We strongly recommend that you secure your handbag in a locker instead of taking it with you to a retail or workroom space. Experienced thieves can operate quickly in a retail environment, sometimes using a second person to create a diversion while the first person performs a crime. Please don’t allow yourself to be a victim – lock up your valuables!
Breakroom etiquette
We provide silverware in both of our breakrooms, as well as plates, coffee cups, etc. To reduce the plastic footprint of our organization, we have eliminated plastic serving pieces. When using any serving pieces, please place your utensils, plates or cups directly into the dishwasher when finished. Do not leave them in the sinks. Please do not hand-wash in the breakroom sinks.
Our staff have been reminded to run the dishwasher every evening. In the morning, they also empty the dishwasher. Therefore, it is a safe assumption that you can put your used items in the dishwasher during the day. If any question arises, please see your department manager. Thanks for helping ensure utensils and serveware gets cleaned daily.
