After a comfortable autumn, the weather has quickly turned to typical early winter weather this month. Our customers and community are now seeking winter clothing.
Recently, Care & Share hosted a refugee family. Unfortunately, there were no winter baby clothes to help the family’s youngest member.
The Clothing Shoppe is moving a lot of clothes every week. Not surprisingly, the greatest demand is for winter clothing. We have instituted several steps this week to help stock the shoppe to the greatest extent possible.
The donations tent now features a designated “Winter Clothing” bin, which allows donations that are primarily winter clothing to receive priority sorting.
Social media requests will go out on Friday after Thanksgiving, asking for winter clothing donations to support the community. We’re reminded that many of our customers cannot afford to shop at the mall or pay the retail price of new goods. Donors will be asked to look for the “Winter Clothing” bin when dropping off what they are sharing.
Please share this request with your friends and family over Thanksgiving dinner! When donors give clothing directly to us, the clothing stays here in this community. When you drop clothing off in a box in a parking lot or at a school, those clothes are sold by the pound for organizations to earn money. The clothing is shipped elsewhere.
The Clothing shoppe will cease pulling winter clothing beginning this week in order to provide the greatest amount available for our customers.
An important way that you can help is by lending a hand in the sorting, quality control, tagging, or restocking of the floor. Because of the high demand, we are having difficulty keeping up with the need!
As we move through this season of gratitude and anticipation, if you could spare an extra half day or day of service, it will make an impact in our neighbors’ lives! Please contact Rich Palmer, Clothing Manager, at 215 723.0315, ext. 102 if you can schedule some time in the upcoming month! Thank you for helping us keep our community warm this winter!
